MakingMEV is one of the 5 high social impact research projects selected through the last edition of the Polisocial Awards, dedicated to “Vulnerability and Innovation”, to be financed by funds from the 5×1000.

It is the first practical realisation of the MEV project, born in March 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency, from the collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and Policlinico di Milano: the intention was to make available to the scientific and medical community – in a completely “open” perspective – the idea of a ventilator for multiple subjects, intrinsically safe, personalised for each patient.

The new project aims to build a fully functional prototype of the ventilator, validate its functionality in the laboratory and analyse its realistic potential for transfer to the clinic.
