Il progetto della Food policy degli Hub di quartiere contro lo spreco alimentare della Città di Milano è tra i 3 finalisti per la categoria “Build a Waste Free World” (Un mondo senza sprechi) del prestigioso premio internazionale sulle migliori soluzioni per proteggere l’ambiente “Earthshot prize” organizzato dalla The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

I 15 progetti finalisti, selezionati tra oltre 750 iniziative candidate da tutto il mondo, sono stati annunciati dal Principe William di Inghilterra. I vincitori saranno annunciati il prossimo 17 ottobre.

Il progetto degli Hub di quartiere è nato nel 2016 su iniziativa di Politecnico di Milano,
Comune di Milano, Assolombarda, Fondazione Cariplo e il Programma QuBì ed è attualmente operativo in tre quartieri milanesi (Isola, Lambrate e Gallaratese), coinvolgendo numerose realtà private e del Terzo settore. In particolare, il ruolo della School of Management del Politecnico di Milano è stato quello di elaborare lo studio di fattibilità della rete e di monitorare l’operatività degli hub e gli impatti generati dal progetto, che ha permesso di costruire un modello logistico estendibile e replicabile in vari quartieri della città.

The Food policy project by Neighbourhood Hubs to combat food waste in the City of Milan is one of the 3 finalists in the “Build a Waste Free World” category of the prestigious “Earthshot prize”, the international award for the best solutions for safeguarding the environment organised by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The 15 finalists, selected from over 750 entries from all over the world, were announced by Prince William. The winners will be announced on 17th October.

The Neighbourhood Hub project was set up in 2016, backed by the Comune di Milano, Politecnico di Milano, Assolombarda, Fondazione Cariplo and the Programma QuBì and it is currently up and running in three neighbourhoods in Milan (Isola, Lambrate and Gallaratese), involving many private businesses and not-for-profit associations. The role of the Politecnico di Milano School of Management in particular was to conduct a network feasibility study and monitor the hubs’ operation and the impact generated by the project, thus making it possible to build an extensible logistic model replicable in other areas of the city.
