This telesurgery system allows to control a surgical robot from a distance of ca. 20 m, and to perform highly precise minimally invasive surgery.

The application has been developed by researchers at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano, and by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Università della Calabria, along with urology surgeons from IEO Istituto Europeo di Oncologia, Milan.

The system exploits tools of the Politecnico’s Leonardo Robotics Lab, allowing the doctor to perform surgery from remote using a 3D visor and appropriate handpieces that move in space.
