Following last year’s victory, the Politecnico di Milano also won the second edition of the “Leonardo Drone Contest. An Open Innovation Challenge”, a competition launched by Leonardo, in collaboration with six Italian universities, to promote the development of Artificial Intelligence applied to unmanned systems (drones).

The team from the Politecnico, comprising Gabriele Roggi, Salvatore Meraglia, Mattia Giurato, Marco Lovera and Matteo Matteucci, developed the autonomous navigation, trajectory planning, collision avoidance and landing systems for the ROG-2 drone, developed in collaboration with the ANT-X spin-off.
