The Politecnico di Milano obtains 4 new #ERC Grants, thus reaching a total of 60. The projects were selected among more than 2,200 proposals: a great result for our university, because only 14.4% of the projects have obtained funding.

Camilla Colombo, with the GREEN SPECIES project, gains a highly regarded Consolidator Grant. Her research will define an interdisciplinary approach for the modelling of space debris and the estimation of its evolution. It will also propose a new economic model for the definition of a credit system for a sustainable space.

Other 3 researchers have obtained a Proof of Concept: Carlo Spartaco Casari, with the PYPAINT project, a new printable anti-counterfeiting system based on carbon-based nano-structures, allowing the creation of a unique identifier code for an artwork, invisible to the human eye; Matteo Maestri with CATALYSE, a software for multi-scale modelling of industrial catalytic processes, a key tool to support the development of new technologies for energy transition and sustainable use of resources; Francesco Topputo with GUIDO, an autonomous driving unit for satellites in deep space, able to find trajectories with reliable optimization algorithms that can run on a low performance and low energy consumption circuit board.
