Camilo Boito è considerato uno dei fondatori del Politecnico di Milano: per sua iniziativa, nel 1865, nasce la Scuola per Architetti, che si affianca alla sezione per gli studi di ingegneria civile e a quella per l’ingegneria industriale, attive già dalla nascita dell’Ateneo, nel 1863.

La sua sfida è quella di integrare i percorsi artistici dell’Accademia di Brera, presso la quale Boito già insegnava, e gli indirizzi scientifici del Politecnico – allora Istituto Tecnico Superiore – con l’obiettivo di preparare una figura professionale in grado di rispondere efficacemente alle nuove necessità nel settore delle costruzioni.

Camilo Boito is considered one of the founders of the Politecnico di Milano: on his initiative, in 1865, the “School for Architects” was established, in addition to the civil engineering studies and the industrial engineering sections, which had already been active since the university was founded in 1863.

He aimed to integrate the artistic courses of the Brera Academy, where Boito already taught, and the scientific courses of the Politecnico – then the Higher Technical Institute – so as to train a professional figure capable of effectively responding to the new needs in the construction sector.
